Lake Pedder Anglers Club is located in Tasmania, the island state of Australia. Lake Pedder is a Hydro Electric Scheme Impoundment located in the Southwest National Park.

Our home base is at the Pedder Wilderness Lodge where club memorabilia and records are on display. The Strathgordon Licensed Anglers Association was formed in July 1976, by Hydro Electric families living at Strathgordon.

In 1991 the club was renamed the Lake Pedder Anglers Club and in 2011 became incorporated. Today Lake Pedder Anglers Club is run by a committee spread across the state and we remain one of the most active trout fishing clubs in Tasmania.

We are a family friendly club with many fourth generation families amongst the membership. Our membership of over 200 people is spread across Australia and has a cross section of ages from juniors through to seniors.

For many years the club has been very supportive of local charities and actively fundraises during the Australia Day Competition each year.

Since 1978 the club has hosted a competition each January during the Australia Day week. The Australia Day Competition is now the largest freshwater angling event in Tasmania. This event is open to the public and people travel from around Australia each year to catch one of the famous Pedder trout.  The event is held over 4-5 days depending on where the public holiday falls. Other clubs participate in this event each year competing in the interclub challenge held over the competition days. Other club only events are held almost monthly throughout the year with 3 events planned at Lake Pedder and 1-2 at Lake Gordon. The June Long weekend event is becoming as popular as the Australia Day competition with members enjoying sunny winter days out fishing and coming together to catch up of an evening.

Club members regularly get together during the year to fish at other events around the state. New members are very welcome to come along to our committee meetings and club events. If your new to angling, LPAC members are very supportive and happy to teach you the finer art of trout fishing.  Our members practice all the different methods of trout fishing and many compete in other angling competitions throughout the year.

The club posts regular updates on Facebook about club events, working bees and requests for members volunteers to help out at club fundraising BBQ's

Our Philosophy

The club aims to promote angling and safe boating at Lake Pedder. Our key focus for many years has been to promote the benefits of fishing and to nurture an interest in boat safety and fishing amongst our children and junior competitors at events.

First formed in 1976, 2016 saw our 40th year as a club. Please read our history page to learn more about LPAC and Lake Pedder itself.
